It does not matter if you are a man or a woman. It’s great that you are interested in sustainable business solutions. On the occasion of this year’s Women’s Day I would like to introduce you to 7 of my favourite “Businesswomen”. Nothing less than fascinated and inspired, this is how you should leave this post after reading. Let’s go!
Lauren Bush – FEED Projects
The niece of former US President George W. Bush founded FEED Projects in 2007, a social organization dedicated to helping children around the world enjoy a meal at school. This was probably never an issue for you and me. We may even complain that our food is too salty.
Since its inception, over 100 million meals were funded. To quote: “People’s choices of what to buy and wear have the power to change the world”. An absolutely great project! Very worth supporting. If you would like to know more about her, here is a link to a good interview by Forbes.
Mathilde Collin – FRONT
Who says women and technology don’t fit together? This business was founded in Paris in 2013 and moved to San Francisco with the goal of making teamwork even more efficient and productive. This works with their app, which over 4000 companies are now using. They were funded by $79 million and now have over 100 employees.
Carly Zakin and Danielle Weisberg – theSkimm
An app, funded by $7.8 million, keeps its users up to date. Every morning there are the TOP news directly on their phone. The app even gives book recommendations and on the website, you will find a great compilation of top stories.
Jocelyn Leavitt und Samantha John – Hopscotch
WOW! Two women who have made it their mission to teach children from 8 years old programming. Everything with: Much pleasure and without frustration! With 1.2 million dollars funding, who would like to see what children have been able to build after a short time?
Hetal Pandya – Edison
An app that manages everything to worry about like mails, packages, calendars, and makes life easier. Big companies like Disney, HP, Amazon, Adobe, or Hilton use their app.
Antje von Dewitz – Vaude
Sustainable and innovative outdoor equipment and apparel. This is the industry in which Antje von Dewitz has already been awarded with the “European Business Award for Sustainability”. Your business is a green business, through and through. It produces environmentally friendly, respects fair wages, produces certain products completely in Germany and tries to avoid packaging materials as much as possible. Absolutely future-oriented!
Verena Mai – UniSpotter
Pretty much all students have used Tinder before. So, it’s quite awesome to invent an app that works on the same principle, but solves a big problem for young people: the search for the right degree!
here is the secret
“Only those who do not believe in themselves don’t believe in others!”
Never take it seriously when someone tells you that you cannot achieve anything! Especially we women tend to deal with such claims very often.
Even with my chosen founders, it has not always looked like sheer success. Some had very different careers before and have found their passion only through a certain experience or a supportive person.
Finally, if you need a little start-up help, I have found two sites for you that offer great help, tips, workshops, videos, events, and advice. So make sure to check them out!
